History

The Camden County Sheriff’s Office, established in 1777, is the only full arrest powered law enforcement agency in the county. The Office of Sheriff was provided in 1776 by the North Carolina State Constitution. The general duties of the Sheriff are outlined in the North Carolina General Statutes 162-13 to 162-25.
